An air-cooled condenser is a direct-dry cooling system. In the thermal cycle, it condenses the exhaust steam of the steam turbine or the process steam in a vacuum. The air-cooled condensers are divided into two designs based on the arrangement of the cooling air fans: the classic A-form and the V-form.
The steam flows through the upper exhaust pipe 1 into the heat exchanger pipes 2 where it condenses. The condensate 3 flows geodesically into the condensate tank. The fan 4 forces the cooling air 5 upwards through the heat exchanger tubes. The non-condensing gases are discharged via exhaust air collector 6.
